Melanie Kretschmer, Community Engagement Specialist, Family Voices of Wisconsin. Melanie joined Family Voices in spring 2026, bringing a blend of professional expertise and lived experience to her advocacy. She holds a degree in health science with certifications in mental health, seizure first aid, and opioid-impacted family support, along with a background in facilitation that supports her work guiding individuals and groups through education and support initiatives.
She is a dedicated advocate for children and families navigating complex care systems, with a particular commitment to those in rural communities who often face additional barriers to access and services. As the mother of two children—one with complex medical needs, including neonatal stroke, hemiplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and intellectual disability—Melanie brings a deeply informed and compassionate perspective to her work.
Beyond her role at Family Voices, Melanie remains actively engaged in her community through service on several boards, as an Ambassador for the Epilepsy Foundation of Wisconsin, and in her role as a volunteer Girl Scout leader, continuing her commitment to advocacy, awareness, and meaningful systems change.
